Put everything back

Return every AI app to exactly how it was before Delta MCP, from Settings or a terminal, and see what is and isn't undone.

On this page

One click returns every connector to the AI apps it came from, each with the entry it had before. You can leave at any time, and nothing is lost on the way out.

Put everything back

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Next to Put everything back, click Put back.
  3. Read the sheet, then click Put back again.
  4. Restart the apps the screen names. Quit and reopen Claude Desktop. Start a new conversation in Claude Code. Reopen any other app.

The screen then says that every connector is back in your apps. If nothing goes through Delta MCP, it says there is nothing to put back. Until you restart, an open app keeps using Delta MCP.

To return one connector, open it in Connectors and click Put back in my apps. To return it in one app only, untick that app under Used in.

From a terminal, the same thing:

mcpdelta restore --dry-run # show the plan, change nothing
mcpdelta restore --all # put every server back (shows the plan, then asks)

See Switch and put back.

What it does

Delta MCP works in this order, so no app is ever left without its tools:

  1. It puts each server’s entry back in the app it came from, as it was written.
  2. It turns back on what it paused: a Claude Desktop extension, or a server of a shared .mcp.json that was turned off for you.
  3. It removes its own mcpdelta entry from each app where nothing is left behind it.

It changes only what it added or removed. Anything else you edited in those files stays.

What stays

  • Your Activity, your shortcuts and your history. What Delta MCP did stays in Activity.
  • The Delta MCP app itself. To remove it, see Uninstall.
  • A connector Delta MCP added for you, from your claude.ai account or a plugin. It was never in your apps’ settings, so there is nothing to put back. It simply stops going through Delta MCP. The original in Claude was never touched.

Put everything back returns your connectors. It does not undo what your AI changed in your services. To undo a change, use Undo on its task in Activity.

The dated copies

Before it edits a JSON settings file, Delta MCP copies the file, with the date in its name, into the backups folder of its own folder, ~/.mcpdelta. For example: 2026-10-07T09-12-00-000Z-.cursor-mcp.json.

Putting back does not read those copies. It writes each saved entry back and removes the mcpdelta one. The copies are your safety net. They also hold any comments the file had, because the rewritten file is plain JSON.

Claude Code is changed through its own claude mcp commands, so no file copy is made for it. Delta MCP keeps the original entry itself, to put it back.

If a step fails, the screen says why.
