Uninstall Delta MCP
Remove Delta MCP and leave your AI apps as they were. Put everything back, restart your AI apps, then delete the app and its data.
On this page
Do it in this order: put everything back, restart your AI apps, then delete the app. Your AI apps reach their connectors through an mcpdelta entry that Delta MCP added. Delete the app first and you lose the button that removes it and puts your servers back.
Steps
- Open Settings. Next to Put everything back, click Put back, then confirm. The detail is in Put everything back.
- Restart your AI apps. Quit and reopen Claude Desktop, start a new conversation in Claude Code, reopen the others. An open app keeps using Delta MCP until you do.
- Check one app. Your servers are listed again, and
mcpdeltais not. - Delete the app, the way you remove any app on your system.
- Optional: erase your data by moving the
.mcpdeltafolder to the Trash. See Where your data lives.
What each step does
| Step | What changes | What stays |
|---|---|---|
| Put everything back | Each server’s entry returns to the app it came from, as it was written. A paused Claude Desktop extension is turned back on, and so is a shared .mcp.json server turned off for you. The mcpdelta entry is removed. | Activity, the journal, shortcuts, sign-ins and the dated copies, in .mcpdelta |
| Restart | Your AI apps read their settings again | Nothing |
| Delete the app | The app is gone | The .mcpdelta folder |
| Delete the folder | Tasks, journal, shortcuts, sign-ins and dated copies | Shared shortcuts in Documents/Delta |
If you deleted the app first
Delta MCP’s folder still lists your connectors and where each one came from. Install the app again, then put everything back. If you also deleted the folder, nothing remembers the original entries: add your servers back in each app by hand.
Delete the folder only after you have restarted your apps and checked that your servers work. Its backups folder holds the dated copies of the files Delta MCP changed.
Good to know
Delta MCP rewrites a settings file as plain JSON, so comments in it are not kept. Its dated copy in backups keeps the original text. Claude Code is changed through its own claude mcp commands, so no file copy is made for it.
In a terminal, mcpdelta restore --all does the same as Put everything back. See Switch and put back.
Delta MCP never changed Claude’s own connectors, so nothing needs putting back there.
